Dads on Duty Staff Training

The role of fathers in the development of children from birth to age five is increasingly being recognized as an essential component in the growth and development of children. Studies have shown that fathers' involvement has a positive impact on children's cognitive, social, and emotional development. It is essential that staff in early childhood education and care (ECEC) centers are equipped with the knowledge and skills to encourage and support fathers' involvement in their children's lives.

Objective: The primary objective of this staff training is to provide ECEC center staff with a comprehensive understanding of the importance of father's involvement in their children's lives from birth to age five. The training will equip staff with knowledge and skills to support and encourage fathers' involvement in their children's lives.

Training Content: The training will cover the following topics:

  1. The importance of fathers' involvement in early childhood development

  2. The barriers to fathers' involvement and how to overcome them

  3. Strategies to encourage and support fathers' involvement in their children's lives

  4. Techniques to involve fathers in the ECEC center activities

  5. Communication strategies with fathers

  6. The role of fathers in promoting children's social-emotional development

  7. Resources available for fathers

  8. Parenting/Co-Parenting Styles

  9. Understanding the importance of selfcare

  10. Finding the right Pediatrician 

Training Methodology: The training will be conducted through a combination of presentations, interactive discussions, case studies, and role-playing. The training will be facilitated by an experienced trainer with expertise in early childhood development and fatherhood involvement. The training will be delivered over two days, with each day consisting of six hours of training.

Expected Outcomes: After completing this training, the ECEC center staff is expected to have:

  1. A clear understanding of the importance of father's involvement in early childhood development.

  2. The knowledge and skills to support and encourage fathers' involvement in their children's lives.

  3. The ability to involve fathers in ECEC center activities.

  4. Improved communication strategies with fathers.

  5. The ability to promote children's social-emotional development through fathers' involvement.

Evaluation: The training will be evaluated using pre and post-training surveys to measure the participants' knowledge, attitudes, and skills.
